I'm Kara, a political journalist in Washington, DC.
I graduated from Vassar College in 2011 with a B.A. in American Studies and spent my college summers interning in broadcast and print newsrooms. After five years managing software and design projects, I entered Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism to return to my first love: feature writing.
I write about national politics — Democrats, Republicans, operatives, activists, and everyone in between. My work has appeared in The Atlantic, POLITICO Magazine, Mother Jones, Rolling Stone, the Washington Post, and the Wall Street Journal, where I currently cover power and culture in Washington.
When I'm not fine-tuning my ledes, I'm tending to my sprawling vegetable garden or drinking irresponsible quantities of coffee.
